We have all heard of Intrepid Cameras from their first Kickstarter. It was a affordable 4x5 wooden camera made out of plywood and laser cut wood. It looked like a make it yourself camera at first but their reasonable price point and a good campaign made them successful. Now three years later they are shipping 60 cameras a month and have backorders because of how successful they are. Some say they might have made more 4x5 cameras than any other company. We don't know that for sure but being 2017 its impressive to see such a amount of cameras being made by one single company.
Later this month they will start a new crowdfunding campaign to make a 8x10 camera. Here is a Skype interview with the owner Maxim Grew.
